The book for the first time an attempt is made to restore the recipe history of a classic musical heritage in the Soviet era. Its material is both musical and critical and music-friendly work and political documents, musical, literary and cinematic works, sources on the history of the Soviet theater, various means of interpreting the meanings of classical music. The principles and mechanisms implemented in the Soviet era of "reduction" of the classical heritage, its influence on the perception of music by a mass listener and the Soviet art itself, the role in finding the identity of the Soviet culture is considered.
