The world of business book is a funny place. Here you can find anything - from the advice of such great businessmen as Warren Buffett, Steve Jobs and Ilon Musk, to the most impressive failures similar to Enron stories and the market of substantial papers. Among the authors you can find geniuses, zealous employees, academicians and entrepreneurs, as well as charlatans and scammers. Or even Donald Trump.

The whole life of mankind is presented here. How to choose seventy names for inclusion in the collection of classics of business? We were guided by several parameters here. Firstly, we wanted to include books that would hug all business spheres - from sales and marketing to negotiations, from entrepreneurship to investment, from leadership to innovation, from traditional and corporate business models to startups and alternative approaches.

Of course, there are some obvious bestsellers: for example, it was impossible not to include "how to win friends and influence people" or "seven skills of highly effective people". At the same time, there are books of much more dubious value, which, however, often fall into the lists of classics of business literature, and we decided to include such names in order to advise the most egregious and complete errors copies.

We also wanted to take as much time as possible and indicate that some very successful and entertaining business ideas can be found in texts that are not perceived as business books: in the "art of war", "slaves of Mycrosoft" , "Think slowly, decide quickly" and "research on the nature and causes of the wealth of peoples." In addition, we wanted to bring the history of business literature to the end of the twentieth and the beginning of the twenty -first century. In particular, we wanted to include a number of recent achievements in this area, since many readers may not have time to get acquainted with them. We decided that the best way to organize such a scattered list of names is the chronological order, since this allows the reader to completely immerse himself in reading and sheds light on how the main trends in business literature have changed over the years.

Among books you will find expert recommendations based on serious scientific research (for example, an "effective leader" or "negotiations without defeat"), inspiring leadership on the basis of business and managing it on a strong basis (these are "lessons of prominent leaders" "Difficult dialogues" or a "dream company"), as well as a dubious sense of management textbooks in which the only flawed idea is brought to logical absurdity (here let"s not mention the most characteristic examples from mercy).

About the author
James Russell - graduated from the Faculty of Philosophy of Cambridge University, wrote a dissertation on the theory of criticism and is now teaching at the Open University in the UK. He is the author of the Brief Guide to the Classics of Philosophy (a brief guide to Philosophical Classics) and the “brief guide to the classics of religion "(a brief Guide to Spiritual Classics)
