In the middle of summer, the largest tank battle of 1942 unfolded in the Bryansk front, in which more than two thousand tanks participated on both sides. The Red Army, expired by blood, managed to stop the enemy at the turn of Don and did not give the Germans to finally take possession of Voronezh.
During the Novorossiysk-Taman strategic offensive operation held from September 10 to October 9, 1943, the German troops were forced to defend themselves, which built a system of defensive fortifications, called the Blue Linen later. However, a powerful strip of defense did not help the Nazis - after a month the Red Army and the Black Sea Fleet knocked the Germans from Novorossiysk and completed the liberation of the Caucasus
