Album prepared by the Museum of Architecture. A.V. Shchuseva, dedicated to the history of the history of architecture of two monastery ensembles lost in 1929. The authors pay special attention to the masterpieces of Russian architecture of the 16th century - the Cathedral of the Miracle of the Archangel Mikhail Mikhail Monastery and the Cathedral of the Ascension Monastery, the churches of the XVII century - the Alekseevsky Church of the Chudov Monastery and the Church of Mikhail Malein of the Ascension Monastery, the works of the architect M.F. Kazakov of the 1770s - the porch of Alekseevskaya Churches of the Chudov Monastery and the Bishops" House (small Nikolaev Palace), as well as the Catherine Church of the Ascension Monastery, created at the beginning of the 19th century according to the project of K.I. Rossi. Separately, the history of the destruction of monasteries, as well as a competition for the building of the military school named after the All -Russian Central Executive Committee, is being considered. Engravings, watercolors with the views of the Kremlin, the panoramas of Moscow recreate the appearance of the monasteries in the ensemble of the Kremlin buildings and the city landscape. Perestroika and reconstruction of monasteries made by architects of M.D. Bykovsky, R.I. Klein, K.I. Rossi, V.A. Bakarev, presented in drawings, drawings and photographs. The most important part of the publication are the measurements of monastery buildings made immediately before their demolition by the architect P.N. Maksimov, as well as watercolor sketches of fragments of decorative decoration S.A. Maslikha. For the first time, unique works of graphics and historical photographs are published in the book from the Assembly of the A.V. Shchusev Museum of Architecture, as well as the true fragments of the frescoes of the Cathedral of the Monastery from the collections of the State Tretyakov Gallery and the State Historical Museum
