The historical-chronographic work of St. Dimitry of Rostov, "The Cell Chronicle," written by him in the last years of his life, was very popular in the 18th and 19th centuries. In its content, the genre of the chronograph - the oldest historical chronicle - is uniquely combined with theological reasoning, which determines the special semantic richness of the text. St. Ignatius Bryanchaninov and the Venerable Ambrose of Optina pointed out the special significance of the "Chronicle" "for guidance in life, to know and understand how one should act purely in a Christian way, according to Orthodox regulations." The book is accompanied by an introductory article telling the story of the creation of the "Chronicle." The edition is intended for a wide range of readers.
