The basis of this series of Tarot cards was one of the first decays for fortune -telling, which existed in the middle of the 15th century in Italy. Fortune -telling has become a favorite occupation of the aristocratic society of Bergamo. The drawings for the cards were made after 1450 by an unknown artist from Lombardy, possibly trained at the Francesco Zavattari school. In all likelihood, this series was ordered by Count Francesco Sforza for his wife Bianka Maria Visconti. The images of cards capture the sophisticated taste and romance, conveying all the subtleties of the human soul.
