Makhasi Sayado, author of the "Practice of Surveys", is considered one of the most implemented Buddhist scientists and masters of meditation of the twentieth century. In this treatise he wrote in detail, doctrinal and practical aspects of attentive observation (Satipatthana) and the development of seeing knowledge (Vipassana), up to the achievement of nibbana, higher freedom, are described.

Makhasi Sayado explains in detail the various blinding effects that appear along with the development of concentration, as well as ten distortions of insight, sometimes called pseudonibbana.
