In modern Russia, there is an active process of rethinking basic spiritual values and the search for new points of view on many diverse traditions of both Russian and world culture, as well as their understanding. Close attention is paid to the restoration and study of Cossack traditions, which until recently remained in the shade. In the past few years earlier, the “dark” and almost unknown culture of the Cossack Savior is becoming more and more popular. However, many and many aspects of this unique phenomenon are still a mystery. This essay is devoted to a comprehensive study of the Cossack tradition - from the very foundations of the worldview, laid down in this original culture, to the practical ritual sphere of everyday life.
The book was created on the basis of live communication with the bearers of the oral tradition of the Cossacks and the comparative analysis of the classical ethnography of the XIX-XX centuries and was not written in a simple, but "storystanding" language. Not immediately said in it will be caught by the reader. Perhaps even the opposite. Many "wisdom" of the Savior will be perceived in hostility. But that saved!
The work is addressed to everyone who is interested in Russian ethnography, applied social psychology and Cossack culture.
