The textbook is a learning aid for teaching reading, listening, and speaking in the Chinese language, which methodologically continues the previous similar edition from 2012 both linguistically and in terms of content. Structurally, the book consists of two parts - 'Listening Practice' and 'Reading Texts'. The first part includes short literary works, predominantly of a humorous and satirical nature. These works are narrated by speakers and are intended to develop listening skills, expressive reading, and speaking at a natural pace. In the second part, the reader will find modern literary works of various lengths on the most relevant topics from the everyday life of the Chinese, published in various Chinese editions from 2008 to 2010. The characters in these stories speak in lively colloquial language, rich in idioms, containing the most common dialectical expressions, jargon, youth slang, computer slang, etc. Many lexical units found in the texts are not reflected in dictionaries or are used in figurative meanings related to everyday life realities. These are the texts that are enjoyed by adult Chinese and Chinese youth, providing a good insight into the lives of various social strata in modern China and undoubtedly will be interesting to Russian readers. Each text in the 'Practice' is accompanied by lexical comments and comprehension control questions. Thanks to this, working with the 'Practice' can be part of effective preparation for the HSK exam in the 'Listening', 'Reading and Understanding' sections, both independently and under the guidance of a teacher.
