1947. Post -war Amsterdam. Winter ice is not only on the streets of the city, but also in the life of people who seek to gain at least some balance. A ten-year-old Thomas lives together with a laughingh father who goes from one work to another and cannot reconcile with the death of the boy’s mother. And the son remains practically without his attention. Everyone in this city at this time has such a story. What warms them is friends and conversations. Thomas"s friends are his same age, a quiet boy Pete Zvan who has no parents, and the strict thirteen -year -old Beth Zvan, and Thomas is in love with her. Together with Thomas and his friends, we learn the inner world of people who suffered from the war, and rejoice at every ray of sun in their lives.
