Alexander Ivanovich Kuprin (1870–1938)-an outstanding Russian writer-realist. Born in the small county city of Narovchat (now the Penza region) in the family of hereditary nobles. The father of the future writer died in 1871, a year after the birth of his son. Difficult times have come for the family, and the mother was forced to send the boy to the orphan board. In 1880, Kuprin entered the second Moscow military gymnasium, in 1887 to the Alexander Military School. In 1890–1894 Alexander Ivanovich, in the rank of second lieutenant, served in the 46th Dnieper regiment in the Podolsk province. In 1894 he resigned and moved to Kyiv. He did not have a civilian specialty, and before taking up the pen, he changed many professions. A.I. Kuprin was an inquisitive person, he was interested in trying himself in different roles. He himself jokingly told friends that he would like to become a horse, plant or fish for several days. The first work of A.I. Kuprina - the story “The Last Debut” - was published in 1889, when he was a cadet of a military school. When the authorities became aware of this, Kuprin was put in a punishment cell for two days. Then he vowed to leave literary experiments and not touch the pen and paper. However, acquaintance with Bunin, Chekhov and Gorky in the late 1890s. made him forget about this word once. In 1901 A.I. Kuprin moved to Petersburg and began to work as the secretary of the magazine for everyone. By this time, the reading public appreciated his literary talent, and the story “Duel”, published in 1905, finally fixed the glory of the master of the word behind him. The plot of the story “White Poodle” is based on real events, the writer was familiar with this group of artists personally. The story told by Seryozha excited A.I. Kuprina. In this simple plot, two topics important for the writer are indicated - the theme of social inequality and the theme of the relationship of people and animals. The author very clearly contrasts the behavior of Seryozha and Trill. The son of the lady is clumsy and spoiled, indifferent to nature, Seryozha is dexterous, strong and decisive. The young artist does not allow thoughts that you can leave a four -legged friend in trouble, for Trilli there are only his needs, he does not even think about other people"s feelings and desires
