The famous Russian writer Alexander Ivanovich Kuprin (1870 - 1938) was born in the city of Narovchat Penza province in the family of a small official. Alexander Ivanovich’s father died shortly after his birth, and her mother moved to Moscow along with little Sasha. At the age of six, Alexander was given to a shelter for a half-hearth children, then to the cadet corps with a soldier"s regime and, finally, to the Junker School.
In 1890, having graduated from a military school, Kuprin was enrolled in the Infantry Regiment in the rank of lieutenant, and in 1894 he retired and moved to Kyiv. In the following years, he wandered a lot in Russia and his impressions formed the basis of future works. Kuprin was familiar with Bunin, Chekhov, Gorky. In 1901 he moved to St. Petersburg, began working as a secretary of the "magazine for all". After the October Revolution, the writer did not accept the new system and emigrated abroad in the fall of 1919.
In 1937, Kuprin was returning to Russia, but the meeting with his homeland was short -lived, in 1938 Alexander Ivanovich died in Leningrad.
Kuprin wrote many stories about animals, their character, habits. In his lifetime, he tinned with them - trained, treated, saved. All four -legged heroes of his stories actually lived, even the events described in the story "Elephant Walk".
