What are stray plots? These are such plots that roam from century to century, from one country to another, because they tell about the most important thing in life. But what, if you collect these stories to bind, insert like small Chinese caskets, one in another?
Grace Lin, an American writer of Chinese descent, was exactly what. And it turned out a fascinating story, a real Road Muy. The heroine of the book, Minli, lives in a poor family: Minly"s mother always worries about tomorrow and complains about fate, and the girl’s father turns every evening into a holiday, telling wonderful tales about the moonstone and jade dragon. The kind and responsive minly (by the way, her name means "smart") desperately wants to help relatives and spends half of his wealth - a whole coin - to buy a goldfish that should (of course!) Bring good luck. But the goldfish did not bring good luck to the family: the mother ridiculed Minley, and the girl decided to go in search of the very lunar old man from the fairy tales told by her father.
Everyone who meets the brave minli on her difficult path is a fish seller, a dragon, a prince, a green tiger and even the lunar old man - all, in fact, pieces of the most difficult, but fantastically beautiful puzzle. Together with the main character, the reader learns that not one of our acts in life remains without consequences - even the most remote ones. And there is no more sure way to become happy than to live, caring for others.
