We are building a new house! - The sixth book of the popular Gimmelbukhov series “History in Pictures” from German artists Doro Göbel and Peter Knorra.
She talks about how once in an unsightly area of the city on the site of the old garage and a dilapidated supermarket building, the construction of a new residential building begins. Workers fill the foundation, gradually erect the walls, mount forests, put the roof, carry out finishing work.
The construction process and the equipment involved in it are captured with all reliability. You can consider how the installation of a lifting crane takes place, how the foundation is poured with a concrete mixer, how an excavator dugs trenches for cables and sewage, how building forests are mounted, put a roof and much, much more. The construction site does not do without incident: for example, an excavator Erwin finds a treasure with gold coins in the ground, after which a whole team of archaeologists arrives at the construction site. And at the festival of rafters, which the builders traditionally arrange, reaching the highest point of the building, the sausages are burned, and the firefighters who mistakenly accepted the puffs of smoke for the fire, urgently come to the construction site with the whole team. And finally, exactly a year later, a beautiful new house is ready! Surprisingly, the whole quarter is transformed with its appearance. Cozy cafes and useful shops open around, playgrounds and flower beds with flowers appear - to the delight of news and old -timers.
Wimmelbuhs of the series History in Pictures is a real dumb movie. Considering the book without words, children learn to notice the details, to trace logical connections between events, to independently make a story on pictures. There are so many storylines in the book that it is impossible to trace them all at a time. They are intertwined, intersect, occur simultaneously, as in a real movie - and as in real life!
