Vasily Andreevich Zhukovsky (1783-1852) left behind a rich creative heritage. Many of his works gained recognition and very popularity during the life of the poet, among them - the poem "Song of the Bard above the coffin of the Slavs -winners", the ballad" Svetlana ", the elegy" singer in the camp of Russian soldiers", as well as the text of the Russian anthem "God, God. King the king! " Knowing European literature deeply and constantly inspired by it, the poet nevertheless knew how to fill his works with Russian flavor and make unfamiliar images closer to the Russian reader. Zhukovsky actively acted as a translator, and his most significant achievements in this area were the Russian versions of the Don Quixote "Cervantes and" Odyssey "Homer.
