Sergei Timofeev was born in 1970 in Riga, graduated from the Faculty of Philology of Latvia University. He worked as a journalist, currently leads the Russian version of the site about contemporary art Arterritory. In 2011-2012 he headed the National Culture Council. The first publications at the turn of the 1980-90s in the magazines "Rodnik", "Mitin magazine", "Babylon". The author of seven poetic books, translations of poetry from Latvian, English and other languages, numerous musical and poetic performance, installations, etc. One of the co-founders (1999) The text-group of the "Orbit" is the most important phenomenon in Russian literature of Latvia. The finalist of the Awards Andrei Bely (2002) and the Russian Prize (2010), laureate of the Latvian theater award "The Night of the Lycens" (2014) for the libretto of the opera "Mikhail and Mikhail play chess"
