The chosen verses of one of the best poets of the turn of the millennia, playwright, writer, translator, author-performer and outstanding teacher, who left the galaxy of students who became famous poets.
Nonna Slepakova (1936-1998) during her lifetime had a reputation as one of the largest poets of Leningrad, but from the very beginning she ruined her biography with the participation in the Almanac "Syntax" and friendship with Kirill Coscinsky. Her songs knew well, poems, although rarely, and even the books that she managed to release only six during her lifetime, not counting the children, were printed and immediately dispersed: the authority of Slepakova
was high, she was called along with Kushner , Kornilov, Chukhontsev, the best poets of the era. “Nothing anti -Soviet, but nothing Soviet,” said David Samoilov, reading the poems of 25 -year -old Slepakova, and this determined her whole further fate. Her poems are instantly remembered, their fabric itself is dense and durable, they do not depend on the era, although they remain an accurate mirror.
Slepakova is one of the most pressing voices of the era, not so much of his own as ours. Today, few are capable of such fearlessness, combining the Soviet and post -Soviet experience, to continue the St. Petersburg tradition of the Silver Age - clearly, accurately and passionately formulate the main thing.
