Yuri Levitan, Soviet and Russian poet and translator, one of the thinnest lyrics of the twentieth century, was born in 1922 in Ukraine. After graduation, he entered the then famous IFLI - the Moscow Institute of Philosophy, Literature and History. From the second year, he went to the front as a volunteer, participated in the defense of Moscow, since 1943 he was regularly printed in front -line newspapers. In the post -war period, he released several poetic collections, was engaged in translations. Many verses of Levitansky - “Watercolors of Soul experiences” (M. Lukonin) - were laid to music and became songs, including the famous “Dialogue at the New Year tree”, which sounded in the film “Moscow does not believe tears”. The turning point in the poet’s work was the book of verses “Cinema” (1970), included in this publication, which brought the author loud glory. Like the subsequent collections “Such-and-such Day” (1976) and “Letters to Katerina, or a walk with Faust” (1981), “Cinema” was written as a single work built according to the laws of the musical composition. Complete the real edition of the work from the book “White Poems” (1991), created in the last years of life and recognized as one of the heights of the work of Yuri Levitansky
