The Tale of Tsar Saltan

"The Tale of King Saltan ..." Pushkin is one of the first works of the great literature to get to know the child. Its plot and rhythmic organization allow you to start familiarization with this fairy tale from the first year of life. Therefore, it is especially important that the fairy tale is accompanied by colorful drawings. The tradition of illustrating Pushkin’s fairy tales is perhaps one of the richest, long and diverse in Russian book history. Each illustrator brings his vision to the book, relevant for his era reading the text. This distinguishes real masters. It is not faked under the text, but, stylizing, finds the figurative language that absorbs the tradition of illustration to it.

About the artist:
Olga Bolovintseva - illustrator artist, book designer. Born in 1958 in Moscow. In 1976-1981 She studied at the Moscow Polygraphic Institute at the faculty of HTOpp by Yu.K. Burjelyana, D.S. Bisty, V.A. Salnikova. At the end of the institute, he is engaged in book design and illustration.
Her work on the book "Tale of King Saltan ..." continues the traditions of Russian classical illustration. Here is a hint of a “bilibin” frame, raising an illustration to the level of a picturesque picture.
