The myth of Narcissus became widely known thanks to Ovid. The anonymous poem of the XII century "The Legend of Narcissus" is based on Ovidic "metamorphoses", however, a medieval poet turns an antique myth into a story about unhappy love and assigns a dominant role to a new character - a girl named Dan, who loved the narcissist. Heroes lose ancient features and get similarity with typical characters in medium -novel novels: a young knight and a princess. The nameless author reaches genuine perfection in the monologues of his heroes.
