Publi Papini Station (40s-c. 96)-Roman poet of the Domitian era, author of the epic poems "Thebide" and "Achilleid". "Silva"-a collection of poems in case-were created by him in the 80-90s. The collection consists of five books that were published as they write, the latter, possibly published after the death of the author. The poems are addressed to different persons, starting from Emperor Domitian himself, but basically these are the patrons of the poet with whom he was associated with friendly relations. Reasons for their writing
Different: new buildings erected by the emperor, visiting the poet of villas belonging to his friends, their family events, joyful and sad: weddings, the birth of children, travel, receiving new positions, recovery from illness, death of loved ones and even pets- animals. Together, these poems create a bright mosaic picture of the life of Roman society of the 1st century. and its moral values. A full translation of "Silv" into Russian is published for the first time.
