Charles Bodler (1821-1867) - classic of French literature of the XIX century. In this book, Baudler is presented in the translations of brilliant Russian poets of the Silver Age: N. Gumilyov, M. Tsvetaeva, K. Balmont, V. Bryusov, TIN. Annensky, Ellis, M. Zenkevich and others. The publication is preceded by the preface of V. Bryusov and ends with the article by N. Gumilyov about the work of Baudelaire. The output of the Flowers of Evil in 1857 was accompanied by a loud scandal, as a result of which the poet appeared before the court for insulting public morality. “None of the modern books are filled with such horror before evil as mine ...” - the poet claimed bitterly, but the court decided that the book contains “passages and expressions obscene and immoral”. Baudelaire was fined and forced to remove the six most “obscene ", from the point of view of the court, from the subsequent publications. But, as Paul Valerie wrote, “French poetry finally went beyond France with Baudeler. She doned to the world to read herself, she appeared as a poetry of modernity, she causes imitation ... ". This publication contains all the poems of the famous book "Flowers of Evil", "convicted" poems are included in a separate section. Information about the translation activity of Russian poets, whose works are presented on these pages, are given. The book contains illustrations, equipped with extensive notes and is addressed to a wide range of readers
