The popular science book "The First Century: the treasures of the Sarmatian mounds" are devoted to the two most outstanding monuments of the Sarmatian era of our country - the Novocherkassk treasure (Kurgan Khokhlach) and the garden mound. Khokhlach was excavated a century and a half ago, and treasures from it were stored in the Hermitage, garden - half a century ago, and its gifts are in the Rostov Museum. But on the ground shares them a little more than a kilometer. Each of these richest mounds was robbed even in antiquity, but what remained, did not end up under robber loses, had a tremendous value: many gold, silver and bronze works of art, ceramics, etc.. The author of this book was led by excavations of the garden mound - Lev Samuilovich Klein, now a well -known St. Petersburg archaeologist, a world -famous scientist. He describes all the conflicts of his discovery in colors: unusual circumstances of the excavations, the Novocherkassk uprising, the conflicts of archaeologists, the abduction and death of the Falares, - thanks to which the narrative acquires the character of the detective in places. He also gives a very detailed scientific analysis of these two mounds. Dirgining these complexes and bringing analogies, the author restores events and rites related to them. The image of the goddess, the diplomatic gifts of the Romans of the Barbarians, the movement of the Roman legions in the northern Black Sea region, the origin of the Sarmatians, the change of Sarmatians Alans - all these images and events change each other, bringing on stage another focus of narration - the first century, the era with which the world modern begins to us
