In 1890, Danish publisher E. Boyesen began a large -scale work - the publication of Andersen"s fairy tales with new illustrations by Hans Tagner simultaneously in five languages, including Russian. Andersen’s publication with Tegner"s illustrations, published in different countries and in different languages, brought the artist already world fame. In the person of Tegner, the world -famous Danish storyteller first found equal to himself in talent and fantasy of the illustrator, whose drawings all over the world were appreciated by both connoisseurs of arts and artists.
In Russia, this luxurious book was translated by A. and P. Ganzen in the publishing house of A.F. Devrien.
