Under the cover is a special world created with the help of words and imagination. Here, fabulous moments are intertwined with references to real historical personalities and events, literary and musical works.
Grandfather Drus knows many stories and fairy tales. It was he who told Maya and Tau about the ancient magic tree - uncle oak. Once, a brother and sister threw a creature that helped them in trouble. And now they will go to the world of uncle oak to correct their mistake.
In the magical world, everything is possible: the yogurt boy will finally get rid of loneliness, the vanilla girl will find his hand bought by the monster, and the speaking road will lead exactly where necessary. And here you can hear fairy tales of uncle oak and then tell them to each other ...
In the world of uncle oak, you can meet the American poetess Miss Dikinson, the famous violin master of Warneri, Captain Scott, one of the discoverers of the South Pole, as well as literary heroes - Gilgamesh, Ahab. However, the author interpreted their images in his own way, so it is not worth looking for complete similarity.
The book has a lot of references to operas, complex words (names of weapons, musical instruments, rare trees) We gave footnotes, but it will be better if the child himself wants to learn more about one or another word/hero/appearance unfamiliar to him. There are no footnot in the Catalan edition - apparently, the author wanted the reader to show curiosity and independently find out what this or that word means.
The book develops the imagination and gift of the narrator. The author convinces us that a fairy tale can be told literally about everything and that with its help you can solve many problems - in a word, not by force.
Book chips
- Fantasy in the style of "Chronicle of Narnia".
- a magical world where the fate of many heroes - fabulous and real are interwoven.
- a real gift for lovers of history, literature, music and mythology
About the trilogy
We released the trilogy of Josep Lewis Badal in three separate books. In each of the volumes, the same main characters, however, the units are not connected by plot, so they can be read separately. In each of the books, in addition to the main story, the author tells many others - these are the stories of secondary heroes, and traditions, and fairy tales from childhood. For this reason, we can say that a fairy tale, word, fantasy is the soul of this trilogy. Three books are approximately equal in volume and illustrated with black-and-white drawings with colored gluing.
