Vasil Vladimirovich Bykov (1924 - 2003) - Soviet Belarusian writer and public figure, participant in the Great Patriotic War.
Participated in the battles for the liberation of Ukraine and Moldova, with the current army went through Bulgaria, Hungary, Yugoslavia, Austria.
Most of Bykov’s works are a story about the Great Patriotic War, which shows a moral choice of a person at the most dramatic moments of life.
The collection includes the novels of V. Bykov "Sotnikov" (1969) and "survive until dawn" (1972)
In 1974, for the story "Obelisk" and "Supporting until dawn, Bykov was awarded the USSR State Prize.
