This collection includes verses by the Indian poetess Yogeshvari Lalleshvari (1320–1392) The forerunner of the medieval mystics of Kashmir, Lalleshvari, known as Lall, Lal Dead or Lal Arifa, was the Shiva yogine and Sufi saint. Muslims, Hindu and Buddhists shared the religious and cultural landscape of the then Kashmir - and the wisdom of the ascetic was revered by all faiths. Her mystical poetry (Bacchus, Vatsun or Lal Bacchus) - compositions in the Kashmiri language, make up an important part of the Kashmir literary and linguistic heritage.
