The poem "Venus and Adonis" brought the glory of Shakespeare among the educated audience, they say, London charming people kept the book under the pillow, and Oxford students memorized entire passages and sang them on the streets. "Lucretia" also had considerable success with the reader, the poem was based on the plot from ancient Roman history, described by Titus Libya and Ovid, retold by J. Chasser in "Legends of Good Wives". The discussions around the sonnets of William Shakespeare still do not subside: are the sonnets really autobiographical? Was there a love triangle, which is mentioned in sonnets 133, 134 and 144? Who was the prototype of a friend and a dark -skinned lady? Shakespeare"s famous sonnets are published in the classic translation of Samuel Marshak. In addition, four essays of the translator G. M. Kruzhkov were included, dedicated to intriguing and not fully clear issues regarding the poems of Shakespeare and his sonnets
