We know Alexander Osipovna Ishimova primarily as the author of the "history of Russia for children", enthusiastically appreciated by Pushkin and Belinsky. But in the XIX century, young readers, their parents and teachers were also not less popular, the writers also used the fairy tales and stories - they were read in peasant houses and in the palaces of the nobility ... and even in the family of the Russian emperor.
This love did not fade away and after almost two centuries - as well as the charm of these wonderful and good stories. And all because, according to the modest recognition of Ishimova herself, she just recorded stories, the author of which without memory loves children, loves to talk with them, recognize their little passions, share their little joys and sorrows. Therefore, even Ishimova’s tales are as if “taken from nature”.
The tales and stories of Alexandra Ishimova return to readers for the first time since 1917 in a richly illustrated publication, including masterpieces of Russian and foreign painting
