Pushkin’s literary reputation was largely due to the popularity of his poems. The first Pushkin poem Ruslan and Lyudmila made the name of the author known to the entire reading public. Each new poem - “Caucasian captive”, “Bakhchisarai fountain”, “gypsies”, “Count Nulin”, “Poltava”, “House in Kolomna” - became the subject of hot controversy and the reason for discussing pressing issues of Russian literature. The book included all the completed Pushkin’s poems included in the author’s edition of “Poems and Tales”, as well as the poem “Copper Horseman”, which was not missed to print “The Highest Censorship”
