The first book, read by Alexander Grinevsky (Green) in childhood, was the novel "Journey of Gulliver". Perhaps, under his impression, the first dreams of the sea and travels arose, which are imbued with many works of the writer, including the “running along the waves”. The boy dreamed of becoming a sailor, and the dream came true - at the age of 16 he was already walking on the steamer Plato along the route Odessa Batum. However, the gross real life turned out to be too far from his ideas, and for 10 years, Green changed many professions: he was a laborer, lumberjack, gold minister, soldier. These life impressions formed the basis of his early stories, which soon began to be printed. It was more complicated with romantic works - “running along the waves”, "scarlet sails" and others: they were alien to revolutionary ideology and authorities prohibited their publication. Fortunately, over time, they still came to readers who appreciated exciting stories, psychologism and mysticism of Romanov Green, responded to his call
