The great poet and outstanding scientist Omar Khayyam was born in the city of Nishapur in 1048. His pen owns a number of works on philosophy, astronomy and mathematics, and in the field of mathematics he ahead of his contemporaries for several centuries. Today, Khayyam"s scientific works are known mainly only to specialists in the history of science. Universal glory of Omar Hayam was brought by his quatrains-rubai, whose lyrical hero is trying to understand the universe, to comprehend the nature of man and God.
