The book presents the sonnets of the Italian poet of the first half of the 19th century Giuseppe Joacino Belly in the translations of Evgeny Solonovich. Drawing the daily life of Rome, Belly refuses the literary language in favor of the local dialect. To reproduce this feature of the Roman sonnets, the translator is looking for possible parallels in the colloquial register - in the colloquials, sayings, deliberate language errors.
