Kate Douglas Wiggin (1859-1823) is an American writer, the author of stories, the most famous of which was Rebecca from the Far Sunny stream, written in 1903. The book was enthusiastically accepted by readers and critics, translated into foreign languages and formed the basis of a theatrical production, which also had a huge success. In American schools, Kate Wiggin clubs were created, in which the writer read excerpts from her works, as a sign of recognition awarded the degree of a doctor of literature. The story is printed in a remarkable translation of Marina Batishcheva with illustrations of contemporary artist Anna Petrova, made specifically for this publication.
