The largest Austrian poet of the 20th century Theodore Kramer (1897-1958), whose work was recognized by the German-speaking world back in the 1920s, became known in Russia only in the 1970s. After the occupation of Austria, thanks to the help of the highly appreciating Cramer Thomas Mann, in 1939 the poet managed to flee to England, where he lived until the fall of 1957. During his life, his work remained ninety percent not published, to this day saw the light of a little more than two thousand Poems, four times more remain unrelated. Poems by T. Kramer are translated into dozens of languages, including Russian. In Russia, the most made to popularize the work of the poet Yevgeny Vitkovsky, his translations in 1993 were awarded the Austrian Ministry of Education.
