By analogy with the Pushkin Golden Age of the era of the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, it was called the Silver Age and was marked by the phenomenon of an unprecedented number of bright names in Russian poetry: Balmont and Bryusov, Hippius and Merezhkovsky, Sologub and Annensky, Blok and Akhmatova, Gumilyov and Mandelstam, Tsvetaeva and Tsvetaeva, and Pasternak, Yesenin and Mayakovsky and dozens of others. But not only a great many poetic talents gave rise to this era. A special romantic attitude, an amazing atmosphere, which became a reflection of the spiritual upsurge and new trends that affected both Russian literature and Russian painting, philosophy, music and theater, was inherent in the silver century.
In this anthology, the most vivid poets of the Silver Age are presented with sufficient completeness, whose work has passed the test of time and became the property of not only the era of the past, but also part of Russian literature as a whole
