Count Alexei Konstantinovich Tolstoy (1817-1875) was a bright and original poet. A convinced monarchist, he was not, however, a conservative and sharply polemicized with the defenders of antiquity and archaic norms of life. Moreover, he even criticized the supporters of the Old Testament foundations. He was a man of extremes, and the love of his homeland sometimes led him to rash statements about other nationalities, although he was alien to the xenophobic positions. In poetry A.K. Tolstoy was adjacent to subtle lyricism in the depiction of the inner world of man and Russian nature and the all -pervasive skepticism and irony in the assessment of social phenomena. This collection is an almost complete collection of small poetic works of the poet.
