The book included the most famous poems by Alexander Sergeyevich Pushkin (1799 - 1837), which became important milestones of his work. On their example, one can trace how the author’s worldview has changed: from romanticism with his revolutionaryly configured heroes ("Caucasian captive", "brothers-robbers", "Bakhchisarai fountain") to realism ("Count Nulin", etc) The long row of poems ends the deeply philosophical work "Copper Horseman" with a new type of hero - "little man".
