Ilya Vladimirovich explains the name of his new book in the preface: “Parabasis is one of the key episodes in the ancient Greek comedy: a multi -component song during which the choir sang and danced, looking at the public and moving towards it. In this chant, the choir usually talked about pressing political and religious problems, pathetically and ironically turning to the gods and citizens of Athens simultaneously, giving advice on how to act in a crisis situation. Parabasis destroyed an imaginary barrier between spectators and actors. ”
