Jan Kaplinsky (1941, Tartu) graduated from the French branch of the University of Tartu. Literary debut (1965) immediately made the Kaplinsky leader of the young poetic generation. Since then, 17 poetic books have been published in Estonian. Peru Kaplinsky also owns about two dozen books of prose, plays and essays, books for children and translations. From the middle of the GOO-X Kaplinsky composes poems in Russian. In 2014, the book “White butterflies of the Night”, marked by the Russian Prize and included in the short list of the Prize Andrei Bely, in 2017-the book “Smile of Vegener” was published. Translated into 26 languages. Kaplinsky - laureate of the Baltic Assembly Prizes (I997)> Benefit (Slovenia, 2001), Max Jacob (France, 2003), European Prize in Literature (Strasbourg, 2016) This publication is a collection of poems of a living classic of Estonian poetry, which includes a poet in more than half a century. The book is divided into three parts. The first includes translations of Estonian poems (including copyright), the second - verses written in Russian, the third composed of selected translations, including ancient Estonian folk songs, Sappho, Eraele, Pessoa, Lee BO, etc
