Now Emily Dikinson (1830-1886) is the most readable poet in America. However, during her lifetime, less than a dozen were published from a large creative heritage - about 1800 verses.
In the middle of the 19th century, the United States of America was extensive, optimistic, sometimes rude to the country. It seems that she was not up to the provincial newspapers of small poems Emily Dikinson, a fragile unmarried woman from a small town in New England. However, the posthumous publication of the book of her poems in 1890 stirred the imagination of readers and gave food to the curiosity of millions. Thus began the posthumous glory.
And Emily Dikinson took its rightful place among world classics. Dikinson attracted the attention of Russian connoisseurs of poetry relatively recently, after the release of several collections of her works.
The proposed collection of a hundred poems was compiled and translated by the poet and translator, laureate of international poetic awards Anatoly Kudryavitsky. The book includes a preface introducing the reader with the personal and poetic fate of Emily Dikinson. Translations of poems are published along with original texts in English.
