The story “Old Man Hottabych” was published in 1938 and has since become one of the most beloved children"s books. Already several generations of boys and girls of our country are happy to read about the adventures of a genie who fell from the time of King Solomon to the Soviet country of the late 1930s. And it doesn’t matter that the book was written almost a hundred years ago, because the story of how a pioneer Volka Kostykov caught an old jug in the river and released a genie out of it-really kind, cheerful fascinating. It was translated into many languages, including into English, German, Czech, Bulgarian, Chinese ... Her author Lazar Iosifovich Ginzburg, who wrote under the pseudonym L. Lagin, composed several more books, but thanks to the “old Hudabych” his name will forever remain in History of children"s literature
