Yehuda Amihai (1924–2000) is the largest Israeli poet of the second half of the 20th century. Translated into dozens of languages ​​(among English translators - Ted Hughes) Laureate of the Israeli Prize and many other Israeli and international awards. Amihai texts are included in school programs and university courses in different countries.
The translator and compiler of this book is the famous Russian poet Alexander Barash, who has been living in Jerusalem since 1989. The author of five books of poems, the latter - “Life” (M .: New Literary Review, 2017), two autobiographical novels, three books of translations of modern Israeli poetry, including two anthologies.
The book is named after a line from the poem “God is merciful to young children ...” The texts are placed in chronological order, in accordance with the five -volume “Poems of Yehuda Amihai”, Shocen, 2002–2004 (in Hebrew).
This collection is essentially the second volume of the chosen one, after “remember this kind of hope” (M.: “Scribes”, 2019) I really hope that a new book will help expand the presentation of readers in Russia about Israeli poetry and strengthen the presence of one of the classics of world poetry of the 20th century in the oickens of our cultural consciousness
