Mikhail Bulgakov created these seven small masterpieces in his youth, although he edited anew many years later. The time of action is 1917, the place is a hospital in a deaf Russian village. A 23-year-old graduate of the medical faculty with excellent theoretical training and a complete lack of experience is here as the main and only doctor. The first patients, severe cases, inevitable mistakes, the fight against their own fears and cowardice, small and great victories, sometimes tragic lesions.
And each story is a separate unique "history of the disease", full of humor and self -irony, as well as pain and bitterness.
Before readers is the thorny path of the formation of a real zemstvo doctor: bold, decisive, endowed with huge talent and good heart
