The book included the main collection of lyric poems by Marina Tsvetaeva, as well as poems written in different years of her life, including masterpieces of Russian love poetry: “Poem of the Mountain” and “Poem of the End”. “Along with Anna Akhmatova, Marina Tsvetaeva occupies ... a primary place among the Russian poets,” K. Balmont wrote in 1921. “There is no poet larger than Tsvetaeva in our century,” Joseph Brodsky spoke about her half a century later. However, in the heat of literary and political battles, the uniqueness and the scale of its poetic gift could not always be appreciated by contemporaries - both in Soviet Moscow and in Russian Paris. Nevertheless, contrary to misunderstanding and loneliness, one “for all” and one “against all”, Tsvetaeva truly became the “leader of her fate” (as Bella Akhmadulina wrote about her) and took one of the main places among the great poets of the twentieth century.
