Here is the Arabian fairy tale "Carpet-sample" from the famous book "thousand and one night". Illustrations for this fairy tale were performed by Russian artist Ivan Yakovlevich Bilibin (1876-1942) In 1920, the artist traveled around Egypt, in 1925 he arrived in France, where he continued to develop his style, which became famous abroad as a "russian style". The French publishing house "Flammarion" released several fairy tales with his illustrations, including the carpet-sarkelet. Illustrations for her are inspired by his memories from staying in Egypt. “I will never forget that amazing impression when I got into the old Muslim quarters of Cairo, with the amazing mosques of the first time Hijra, with his markets and with his crowd,” the artist later wrote. “It seemed to me that one of the pages of the“ thousand and one night ”came to me, I could not believe that all this exists in kind.” The hobby of Bilibin by ancient Russian art was reflected in his illustrations for Pushkin"s fairy tales: "Tale of King Saltan", "Tale of the Golden Cockerel", "Tale of a fisherman and a fish". Children"s books issued by the artist had a huge impact on the design culture of their time, and for many years the perception of Russian fairy tale has become largely Bilibinsky
