Ivan Andreevich Krylov went down in the history of literature primarily as the greatest fabulist. Its short, instructive, ironic fables have been known from childhood and re -read it with pleasure. Timely quotes of them have long become winged expressions, and Krylov’s characters fell in love with many generations of readers. Pushkin considered Krylov a truly folk poet: “Of course, not a single Frenchman dares anyone to put Lafontaine above, but we, it seems, can prefer Krylov to him. Both of them will forever remain the favorites of their unienated people. ” This edition presents a complete collection of fables of I. A. Krylov, united by him in nine books, as well as his poems, plays (“Growspasses”, “Fashionable shop”, “Lesson to the daughters”) and prose
