The great “Book of Songs” Henry Heine (1797–1856) was first published in Hamburg in 1827 and immediately put forward the author to a number of the most significant German poets. The through theme of this collection is love, unhappy and happy, but Heine had a traditional lyrical theme very fresh: his poetic gift allowed to find new unexpected intonations-reduced, satirical or everyday-case. These innovations undoubtedly influenced Russian literature. Heine was shifted into Russian not only by professionals-translators, but also outstanding poets (A. Blok, M. Lermontov, I. Annensky, A. Fet, etc) The “Book of Songs” is offered to the reader’s attention in the form as the poet conceived, without abbreviations and bills
