Jewish folk tales

This book is a unique anthology of folklore of the Jews of Eastern Europe, and, in addition, the first and so far the only collection of Jewish folklore in Russian.
The basis for it was the collection of Efim Reze, who devoted more than half a century to the study of written sources, and most importantly, the records of oral traditions and legends that were still existing among those for whom Yiddish was their native language.
Efim Samoilovich Ryze (1904-1970) gathered Jewish tales all his life: the first notes were dated to 1916, the latter-the end of the 1960s. Among his informants there were a variety of people: children and adults, residents of towns and capitals, famous poets, pets and engineers, professors, shoemakers, teachers, a rabbi, a specialist in scientific atheism and even a professional thief.
