The poet, writer Peter Shmakov was born in 1950 in Kharkov. He graduated from the Kharkov Medical Institute. Worked as a doctor. In 1995 he emigrated to the USA. Lives in the suburbs of Chicago. The tonality of the poet’s poems is often tragic, and this tragedy is an attempt to harden and aggravate spiritual vision, to make him uncompromising. The author seeks to deepen his poetic vision due to metaphysical and philosophical metaphors and speculation. From this, the pessimistic mood of his poetry often acquires the breadth of biblical prophecies and the Buddhist-Gnostic rejection of the ruthless and chaotic world.
